Unless you've been living under a rock that's underneath another even bigger rock in a cave in the middle of nowhere, you probably already know what's up with this milestone of an album. Initially released in the year two grand, Botch's final full-length was/is the kind of devastating metallic hardcore explosion that the term "metallic hardcore" could/can only aspire to. In fact, these dudes nailed it so hard that the bands that came afterward had to start calling themselves "metalcore" out of respect.

Everyday I Get Closer to the Light From Which I Came
Beginning with 'Homesick', with its guitar hooks, shoegaze textures and familiar jesusound, one can be misled into considering that this new album will follow a familiarjesu trajectory. Instead the following tracks use jesu's aesthetic, but take in dub, post punk, and electronica along the way, to create maybe the most dynamic jesu album to date.

We have released a lot of records to date, but never so many in such a short span of time. Buddyhead :Now that you’re removed, from writing, recording and being a member of Daughters, and you’ve released a record that many people (myself including) would call your best and the sort of “coming of age” of the band, how does it feel that it’s basically over?
Nick : I have mixed feelings about it. its sad that the band fell apart as this record was being released because I do believe it was a sort of coming of age recording, but that it was only a peek at what was to come. Writing this album felt like a dusting of cobwebs for me and as though we were stepping into a territory that was fresh and exciting for our band; at least that was my goal when i made it. On the other hand, its great to be away from the stresses of the band. Daughters was a band that provided me with some really great memories and took me around the world, helped me make some great friends and allowed me to do what I’ve always wanted to do with my life. I feel extremely grateful to have been able to work together with dudes that I’ve known for a long time in a band I felt had integrity. I am truly blessed to have had the opportunity to write and record our last record as I am extremely proud of it, especially in the context and history of the band.
As you all should probably know by now (because we've been jellying it down your throats for the past month and all)... Daughters' self-titled comes out tomorrow! I don't want to have to hold your hands through this thing, but that means less than 10 hours (Pacific Standard Time) remains for you to pre-order the record on the HH web-store...

The guitars on this bastard sound insane ... kind of like if the sound a car engine makes when it won't start raped a dentist drill. Or a dentist drill raping a megaphone. The disc isn't overwhelming like the band's previous releases, and has strange, eerily psychedelic moments of psychosis. It's rife with riffs and breaks like heroin. There are even ethereal moments. Just when you get to the age where sitting in traffic and switching back and forth from the conservative to the liberal talk radio station sounds more appealing then sifting through the bush-league releases of the day, Daughters comes through with an untouchable new record absolutely snuffing out your now-so-surly being. Bumper to bumper, late for work, window down and more and more your thinking that a cigarette and a beer coupled with these stellar jams would end all right now!
Because that is exactly the kind of record Daughters' s/t is, the kind you can't stop turning up... The kind that satisfies every cultural / musical requisite a critical listener possesses while simultaneously reinventing the wheel... None of that, “this band is my fine art project, musicianship is secondary because I am an artist foremost” garbage included... Daughters is heading into the studio in April to record their next full length for Hydra Head so in the meantime we figured we should give you a little old school treat to tide you over. Sargent House is happy to be re-issuing their self Titled EP from 2002, yup their very first release that has been out of print since 2003. Now available on Itunes and coming to all digital retailers to all digital retailers on or around April 1st (no this is not an April Fools) with old songs and new art. Its about time the BBC makes a name for themselves...in this case by inviting Daughters to record live in the studio. The band plays "Fiery" and "Providence By Gaslight" at about 40mins in, and "Daughters Spelled Wrong / Recorded Inside A Pyramid" at about 1 hour and 45mins....nice!
