That is actually not true, we are most definitely not going to the Grammy's, BUT the dude that produced Oxbow's 2007 release, The Narcotic Story, most definitely is. And we suspect one of the guys from the band will go as well...which means that Eugene might actually get to smack Anthony Kiedis just the way he says he wants to (disclaimer: we do not condone the smacking of Anthony Kiedis because he is pretty much Mark's childhood idol). Joe Chiccarelli is nominated for Producer of the Year for his work on 'Narcotic Story' and three other titles. He faces some stiff competition from the likes of Mark Ronson, Timbaland and Howard Benson...but, quite honestly, we couldn't care less whether he wins or loses...its the fact that 'The Narcotic Story' is finally receiving some much due acclaim that tickles our pink...
Soooooo....if you can vote in the Grammy's, we suggest you vote Chiccarelli.

Kayo Dot are looking for a drummer and part-time keyboardist (for local shows) to play material from their upcoming record on Hydra Head.here is what they are looking for:
DRUMMERS: Ideally, you should be very versatile/be able to play a variety of styles. A jazz background is strongly, strongly recommended. (This new album has a more jazzy feel and no metal this time!)
KEYBOARD players: we're looking for analog synth players that also play a woodwind instrument! You must own and be able to play both these instruments, please! We actually already have a keyboardist in mind but he lives out of state. We're looking for someone who might want to fill in for him for local/east coast shows once in a while, etc.
You must live in the NYC area!
Interested parties can get in contact with the band via their myspace

Online Tusk reviews for the week! The happy smiling heavy metal dude at About.com gave it 4/5. Some hammerhead at the Onions AV Club, the one who ain't vibing on Pelican at the moment, gave it a B-. Decibel didn't seem to care so much, but did review it in tandem with a band called Black Tusk...how clever! A Canadian dug it alot on behalf of Exclaim!. The Cleveland Free Times liked 3/4's of it. Music Emissions pretty much loved it and the taste-makers at Regnyouth Archives pretty much applied the analytical approach.
On newsstands: Aquarian Weekly crowned it their Record of the Week! And coverage is forthcoming from the likes of Revolver, Alternative Press, Magnet, Metal Maniacs, and Paper Thin Walls.
and in other news...Their last release, Tree of No Return, will have CDs restocked by years end and in even more exciting news, the LP version is in the works for what will hopefully a be a January delivery.

Pet Genius are featured today as Spin's Artist of the Day. Since the day is over and we're just getting this post up now we sent you to the page itself, but we do feel it is important to note that Spin did choose to put a nice pic of the band on their front page...see they DO have taste after all! And, honestly, the brief synopsis of the band sorta nailed it...maybe we need to start flipping through Spin again while mom is doing the grocery shopping. Nice!
Because the Darren's still seem to like us, that's why...and in this case the holiday season maybe caught DT's spirits a bit more fiercely than we'd ever hope it would...we do look good as elves though...
