The first in a series of four new Botch titles set for release on Hydra Head in the next year, this reissue of the band’s long-out of print collection of early seven-inch material, compilation cuts and other rarities provides an incisive look at the germination of Seattle’s legendary ass-kickers. Originally released by Excursion Records in 2002, Unifying Themes Redux features sixteen ferocious tracks that only Botch could deliver—complete with weird samples, postmodern anxiety, and unstoppable riffs. All paths lead to Rome. If you missed this collection the first or second time around, we are giving you another chance the experience the legend that is Botch.

Although Botch’s two full lengths and final EP features their most progressive work, Unifying Themes Redux summarizes the creative path that led them to such stellar heights. It’s a goldmine of Botch material, with compilation appearances, out-of-print EPs, unreleased tracks, and other collector gems. The John Birch Conspiracy 7” alone warrants the purchase—few acts could do justice to the theme from Conan the Barbarian.

Tracklist:
1. God vs. Science
2. Third Part in a Tragedy
3. Inch by Inch
4. O Fortuna
5. Closure
6. Contraction
7. Ebb
8. Stupid Me
9. In Spite of This
10. End of Discussion
11. Wounded
12. Liquored Up and Laid
13. Leavers Take on Genesis
14. Rock Lobster
15. Frequenting Mass Transit
16. Sudam

Out on Hydrahead 9/26/06
With tremendous respect and admiration, Hydra Head Industries is proud to release the work of one of the underground black metal scene’s most creative minds: Xasthur. For this release, we are working in association with Battle Kommand Records. The Illinois-based label has released an impressive stable of quality underground releases, including a Xasthur/Leviathan split.

As one of the most innovative black metal practitioners in the isolationist sub-underground, Xasthur has crafted some of the most mesmerizing and significant music of the last decade, regardless of genre.

Subliminal Genocide wallows in its creator’s well nourished acrimony and terminal disgust, fomenting a hellish vortex of shrill riffery, cavernous howls and psychedelic stormblasts that bears down on the psyche with primordial distress. The U.S. black metal scene is regarded by those in-the-know as tremendously progressive. Xasthur (along with Leviathan, Krieg, and Nachtmystium) is an American artist whose forays into lo-fi atmospherics, unique instrument and vocal textures, as well as exploratory song structures are heralded.

Subliminal Genocide adheres to the sonic and lyrics principles of malevolence contained in Xasthur’s past work, but further develops the use space and atmosphere. Though the significance and appeal of underground black metal remains largely experienced only by the few who dwell in dark corners, we hope this tremendous Xasthur record reaches the ears of all those who are even slightly fond of extreme art.

Tracklist:
1) Disharmonic Convergence
2) Prison of Mirrors
3) Beauty is Only Razor Deep
4) Trauma Will Always Linger
5) Pyramid of Skulls
6) Arcane and Misanthropic Projection
7) Victim of Your Dreams
8) Through a Trance of Dispondency
9) Loss and Inner Distortion
10) Subliminal Genocide
11) Malice Hidden in Surrealism

Like second chances? Well this is yours. Hydra Head industries is looking for one or two fresh young interns to sacrifice to the work gods. Now before you all come running for the "good touch" from James, the "inappropriate touch" from Bryce, and some sweet ass limited free shit, take a minute to ask yourself if you are a reliable, intelligent and motivated individual. You've got some big intern shoes to fill so don't blow it.

Intern duties can consist of pretty much just about anything. Expect to participate in some of the following actions: preparing various mailings (press, tour, retail), calling stores, running errands, laughing at our bad jokes, straightening up the office, folding t-shirts, arranging tour ticket buys, web related tasks, etc..

Things that increase your chances of being involved:
-you must live near the 90029 zip code and have a car.
-we prefer college students that can obtain credit through the internship although we are open to anyone.
-we expect some familiarity with our artists and the label.
-a passion about working in the music industry, and more importantly, with an independent record label
-familiarity with Word, Excel, Outlook, telephones and the internet is preferable.
-an understanding that this is not all fun and games, and if you commit to helping out then we expect you to actually be of help.
-your hours of availability may be flexible as long as you are consistent and someone we can count on. We are generally here from 9am to 7pm M-F (occasionally on weekends too).

If you think you fit, email bryce@hydrahead.com and tell him why..

hydra head would like to welcome another one man band to our house of sin - none other than sweden's heresi. thus far heresi has released an EP and a recent album "psalm II" through THR in europe. while we're running a little behind on the US release of "psalm II" it will see the light of day via HHR by years end.... and somewhere in the early part of 2007 we will likely release the next heresi album also in conjunction with THR. prepare for a sound and thorough thrashing. more can be found at www.heresi.se
hydra head has "signed" the legendary lustmord. if you don't know who lustmord is, it's time to do some research.... lustmord has only existed for 25 years! after countless releases and recent collaborations and remixes with the melvins and tool, lustmord has decided to put his reputation at stake by forming an unholy alliance with hydra head conglomerate international.

the first release will be a limited CD containing a lengthy track made in conjunction with buzz osborne of melvins fame - fans of drone and dirge rejoice. hydra head will also be distributing another forthcoming lustmord release - another limited cd featuring material from a recent lustmord live show - the first in 20 years... which happened to be a performance for a public ritual for the church of satan held on, you guessed it 6/6/06.

both releases should be available in the webstore by the end of the summer.

Oxbow is a band you can't afford to sleep on. They require your attention. Dense guitar textures? Check. Commanding vocal placement and sharp rhythms? Check. Love That's Last is a recent collection of tracks we released that re-introduces the Oxbow cannon; obviously you can get it at the shop. The band is currently recording their first proper full length for us; it's called The Narcotic Story.

The guys just played the killer Ovrcast Festival, on 6/6/06. Check out the photos on apeshit.org.

Also, this past feature is a killer, detailed look at the band.

This is such a sweet write-up on the Gersch and 5IVE. Are you familiar with the recent 5IVE and Gersch records Tortuga put out recently? This article features samples from both artists and is a rave write-up worth reading. Of course, the fact that said article also gives big love to our labels is also pretty sweet. Of course, these fine items along with many others are available through our store.
Hell Songs is such a ridiculously good record. It's out in a month! If you love it (and you will), go see these upstanding young men deliver the goods. Dates for their global domination are starting to surface. We'll keep this updated regularly, detailing support, etc.

KNUT just put in a terrific performance at Hell Fest. Were you there? Can you believe these lucky fuckers got to hang with Celtic Frost? Jesus I wish that was me. Anyway ... keep up with KNUT's live happenings and others news on their site.

And if you've yet to hear KNUT's triumphant return to the realm of auditory pummeling, then you need to check yourself. Terraformer and Alter both came out recently, and you can grab them here. The former is their recent full length and sees the band stretching its sonic boundaries big-time. Check out a glorious review. The latter is a righteous collection of remixes spanning the band's career. Props here.
