Much love to ya'll who headed over to Secret Headquarters and picked up a Melvins Box Set that went on sale over the weekend. It was quite a success and, with the exception of some pain-in-the-asses, it went as smoothly as they could have hoped. They have informed us they are still processing orders placed over the phone. These should be all finalized by tomorrow night, with those orders shipping hopefully by Wednesday day.
Its seems one person picked one up just to turn and sell it, literally within hours of purchase...its a shame really, but considering that we have worked to curb this behaviour, its truly nice to only see this one person selling theirs. The person's post on ebay for the listing of the release is hysterical.....not only does he claim to not being doing it for profit (which he is making), but he is saying the item is sold out (which it isn't)...the best part, though, is the Q&A section where some one calls him out about flipping it, to which he justifies the sale by saying he saw the Melvins with White Zombie and wants Dodger's tickets. We emailed him from our new ebay store which we set up a few days ago...to which he responded suggesting it wasn't really us asking the question...too funny.
Anyway....if you are bidding on this thing, you shouldn't. We have box set stock here to sell via mailorder at the actual sale price...not at some dude's inflated auction rate. We are still waiting to finish assembling the stock for us and for the Melvins, so although we can't start selling the box sets we have set aside today, we are willing to start taking some order requests via email. Please understand, this is just a waiting list...we'll respond on a first come first serve basis when we are ready to do so over the next few days. Please include your name, and shipping address (No PO Boxes for US customers, we will only ship UPS insured) so we can determine shipping costs, etc. We'll then respond stating whether or not there is one reserved for you. Do you guys at Hydra Head know if SHQ will take extra care in shipping the box sets? I'm sure they will since they deal with collectables anyway but I am just a little concerned (my concern isn't justified in any way nor is it a reflection on SHQ...it's just my own damn insecurity).
Also, I'll be more than happy to shit in a box and mail it to "planetcaravan" on eBay. What a lying prick. If he wanted to buy Dodger Playoff tickets, why would he spend $90+ dollars on this set if the tickets start out at $63.00? Unless he wanted better seats...which would require him "investing" in this box set to turn it for a profit. I guess it's his money and he is dealing in somewhat of a free market (minus all the government intervention...but that's for another blog) but he is lying about his intentions. Just another anonymous comment but I felt I had to say something.
Just think, Hydra Head thought this was a good idea at one point. I'm sure us Melvins fans will make them think twice about dealing with them again.
And that shitting in the box thing is still open. Just say the word. Oh and a BIG THANK YOU to Hydra Head for putting up with the name calling and all the other shit just for putting out an awesome box set.

So let me get this straight. HH gives most of the Ltd. Ed. to some store in LA, meaningthat 99% of Melvins fans have fuck all chance of getting one, then have the audacity to shit on people who took full advantage of the fact that they can make lots of money selling them on Ebay?
HH allowed this bullshit to happen by giving the Ltd. Ed. to Secret Headquarters in the first place. If they had sold the Ltd Ed. direct, there would still be people selling it on Ebay, but a lot more fans would have had the chance to secure a copy.
you guys should just email the Melvins website, I am sure they can stop this chaos and pull the release from Hydrahead, they probably have no idea all the shit that is going down with this release.

I live in england. I like the melvins. I would have liked to get a box set. i can't get to your shop, I have little or no chance of getting whats left. The most likely way of me getting one is off ebay.Was the point to make sure people who live in La got them cause they are the biggest melvins fans? I don't know what could have been done but surely it could have been done more fairly!
People need to calm down. Did anyone ever think that since Buzz lives in LA and likes comic books that he might be a patron of SHQ and that maybe this was his idea? The record set and comic book and belt buckle will be widely available otherwise. You just won't get a cardboard box. Or maybe if you had really wanted it you would have taken the steps necessary to secure one. Other people managed to do it, why couldn't you? This is certainly not the first time Melvins have put out something ridiculously limited that was only available at one or two locations. Do you have the Spit it Out 7 inch or the Shit Sandwich 7 inch or the Message Saved 7 inch? You can't have everything and you aren't entitled to get it. SHQ and hydrahead and doing the best with this that they can, there is no way everyone will ever be happy. If you want the thing, take care of business yourself, there have been 2 opportunities to get this set so far.

We are trying to cut down on these ebay opportunists.
So far we've seen 1% of these boxes listed on ebay...that's a remarkably low figure no matter how its looked at...unfortunately we can't stop all the assholes though...

Since we know that these boxes will run out before everyone who wants one can get one, we were thinking we'd offer a limited color of the regular 4xLP to those left on the waiting list first. Stay tuned if you are interested in that, we'll put info about it on the blog when the time comes.
