HYDRA HEAD RECORDS

Splitting Heads since 1995

Justin Broadrick recently checked in with CMJ to talk about the forthcoming Jesu full length release, Conqueror. you can get the lowdown on that here.

Wes decided that he doesn't want to write this text right now so it's being dicated by James via Nick.

We're selling shirts again. Fuckin buy 'em.

(now being dictated by Dupey)

This is part 2 of the shirt blowout. This involves a "buy one item and get the second item of equal or lesser value at a discounted price". This discount also applies to people who have already placed orders from the first blowout. Here's the breakdown:

T-shirts:
$13, second is $6.50

Long Sleeves:
$17, second is $12

Hoodies:
$23, second is $15

Zip-up Hoodies:
$26, second is $20

We need to get rid of a lot of stock and we have added new designs for Khlyst & Stephen Brodsky's Octave Museum preorder merch.

CLICK HERE to see the inventory. Contact DUPEY for availability and ordering information.

(James again)
we have spent the last ten minutes debating how to word the sentence about dub sacks and reserving t-shirts. Its friday night, i want tacos, so please, don't flake on us like Dewey is going to flake on Bryce tonight. Monday is going to be interesting. Wes says "party time".

Taking its name from the 50-foot effigy burned every year by a hysterical mob during the Fiestas de Santa Fe in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Zozobra is the brainchild of Cave In/Old Man Gloom bassist Caleb Scofield. Featuring live drums courtesy of fellow OMG Institute liaison Santos Montaño, Harmonic Tremors deftly traverses the far-flung fields of transcendental space rock and explosive dirge metal (not to mention the occasional Godflesh-style pounding) with alternately snarling and oscillating riffery, crippling bass quakes and apocalyptic proclamations hurled end-over-end toward the cosmic unconsciousness. Echoes of Scofield’s previous devastations in both Cave In and OMG resonate throughout, but Zozobra ultimately follows its own smoke signals into the Great Beyond.

Check out a couple of the tracks right....................here

A bunch of us over here at Hydra Headquarters took a little field trip to a local music-show-bar to catch a set by the always compelling Everlovely Lightningheart, and let me tell you we stared jaws agape at an absolutely unbelievable performance. If you are in the San Francisco area tonight please make your way over to the Bottom Of The Hill for what promises to be one hell of a last show for the These Arms Are Snakes/ Mouth Of The Architect tour.

November, 20 2006 at Bottom of the Hill.
1233 17th st., San Francisco, California
Cost: $10
These Arms are Snakes, Mouth of the Architect, French Toast and Everlovely Lightingheart.

For all of you that may have missed it please point your internet at The Cowards Rope to check out some newer musical feats.

Normally here at Hydra Head we wouldn't give two shits about celebrity prowess but you gotta admit its pretty gosh darn cool when someone with a musical history as deep as the Mississippi is holding your record.
Thought you would be done voting for important stuff for a while? well we've got something else for you to vote on... Several Hydrahead releases have been nominated for this years Plug Awards. Jesu and Xasthur are nominees for Metal album of the year while Daughters have gotten the nod for a shot at Punk album of the year. so get over to this site and make your vote count.
Stephen Brodsky recently recorded a podcast for ASCAP. Its just him and his guitar and he performs songs from his solo releases in addition to some Octave Museum and Cave In material. go here to check it out.
For those of you in the NYC area, theres no better way to spend your evening than with some good old noise rock and drone in the form of The Austerity Program, Growing, and Chord, who you may or may not have already heard has some of the fellows from Pelican in its ranks. Its gonna be The Austerity guys first live performance in quite some time, so come out and show them your love. This is also a benefit show for the American Red Cross and there will be prizes and giveaways, so its pretty much a win-win situation for all.

For more info on this show head HERE

While we are on the topic of The Austerity Program, theyve been hard at work on their next release which will see the light of day on HydraHead at some point down the line in 2007. In the mean time check out a trailer for a documentary on the guys and the forthcoming release here and a bit of a teaser posted on the documentary myspace here.

If you were a lucky one, you may have caught Stephen Brodsky's Octave Museum at the Vice/HHR CMJ show last week. Bryce went and said it was "fucking awesome". We believe the show was awesome, although in this case we don't know if he's telling the truth of if he's just psyched that we sent him to NYC, which coincidentally is where his girlfriend lives... The Octave Museum's debut hit stores this past Tuesday, so please do go to your local shop and search it out. One of Brodsky's (and HHR's for that matter!) long time supporters, Boston Phoenix, uses terms like "lo-fi, indie-folk" and "psych-rock thunder" to describe it, which is just what we might call it if we were good at describing things. We'd also use the term "pop" a lot too. The band's official hometown release party is next Wednesday, November 15th (also the date one of our staff turns an ancient 33 years old...please send all gifts to our PO Box) at Great Scott's in mufuckin' Allston, MA with Township and The Diamond Mines. There's been a bunch of great press coming through including online publications like MTV, Make Solutions, Absolute Punk, Decoy, Losing It Today, New-Noise, Punk News, and I Guess I'm Floating.

P.S. Cave In didn't break up, stop spreading rumors.

We have uncovered some limited t-shirts and hoodies (or sweaters if you are from Dupelmannville, McTenneessee), go here to check the goods. Email Dupey at dupey@hydrahead.com to confirm availability, inquire about prices and sizes, and to learn how to order. You can also ask Dupey on a date; he will say yes.
