Ahh Fall. Here in southern California nothing really changes, still beautiful sunny days, warm weather and cool nights. So what does Fall mean for us here at Hydra Headquarters? A fresh batch of minions to serve and protect the thinking mans metal. With the success of recent "yes men" such as Dupey (who graduated to his own HHR email address) and Emotional Intern (who is still dealing with a lot of heavy shit) we are looking to fill the large shoes and jeans of those who are departing the HHR staff for the likes of "paying jobs" and "school work". Yes that's right kiddies! Its your chance to be the newest batch of unpaid interns!
Intern duties can consist of pretty much just about anything. Expect to participate in some of the following actions: preparing various mailings (press, tour, retail), calling stores, running errands, laughing at our bad jokes, straightening up the office, folding t-shirts, arranging tour ticket buys, web related tasks, etc..
Things that increase your chances of being involved:
-you must live near the 90029 zip code and have a car.
-we prefer college students that can obtain credit through the internship although we are open to anyone.
-we expect some familiarity with our artists and the label.
-a passion about working in the music industry, and more importantly, with an independent record label
-familiarity with Word, Excel, Outlook, telephones and the internet is preferable.
-an understanding that this is not all fun and games, and if you commit to helping out then we expect you to actually be of help.
-your hours of availability may be flexible as long as you are consistent and someone we can count on. We are generally here from 9am to 7pm M-F (occasionally on weekends too).
If you think you fit, email bryce@hydrahead.com and tell him why..

Khanate has officially announced that they are disbanding. Formed in 2000, the band released three albums and a number of limited releases during their six year history. The band will continue to pursue the release of their 4th studio work, a companion album to Capture & Release (which is in the mixing phase) and the Japanese reissues of their first two releases, with expanded packaging and bonus discs including unreleased material via Daymare.

Botch are currently in the studio with Matt Bayles, remixing American Nervoso for release in early-2007. the band has the following to say in regards to the release...
"We're gonna re-release it with a bunch of extras (demos, extended versions of a couple of songs, the two opening measures of 'Hives' that accidentaly got clipped off in the original mastering, etc.)."
In stores today is Unifying Themes Redux, the first in a series of four new Botch titles set for release on Hydra Head in the next year, this reissue of the band’s long-out of print collection of early seven-inch material, compilation cuts and other rarities provides an incisive look at the germination of Seattle’s legendary ass-kickers. Originally released by Excursion Records in 2002, Unifying Themes Redux features sixteen ferocious tracks that only Botch could deliver—complete with weird samples, postmodern anxiety, and unstoppable riffs. All paths lead to Rome.

Heresi - Psalm II - Infusco Ignis - CD Pre-Order. During the next 2 weeks, we are offering a pre-order for "Psalm II - Infusco Ignis". You have the option of pre-ordering just the CD by itself, or the CD and a limited edition t-shirt. The t-shirt will be printed on black, Apparel Agent brand t-shirts with gold ink. After 2 weeks we will stop taking orders for the shirt, but you will still be able to pre-order the CD up until the release date. As usual this is a design that will not be reprinted.
After several years spent rotting in various Swedish mental institutions, the one-man black metal machine known as Heresi has emerged with yet another vicious black metal curse for mankind to suck on. The malicious handiwork of multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Skamfer (ex-Ondskapt), Psalm II: Infusco Ignis roils and blazes with the poison fury of a thousand heathen armies, screaming for arson, suicide, and an end that never comes. Originally unleashed upon Europe via Sweden’s Total Holocaust Records, Heresi’s second release features cover art courtesy of fellow isolationist Wrest (AKALeviathan) and lyrics written entirely in its creator’s native (and possibly forked) tongue. Plus, the riffs are fucking unstoppable. But why take our word for it? Skamfer himself sums up the general sentiment best: “It is always the right time to do lots of drugs and die.”

The new Jesu album, recently titled Conqueror, is currently at the end of the mixing stage and is about to be mastered. There are 8 songs on Conqueror, with a running time of just over 60 minutes. Planned for a February 2007 release on Hydra Head, a U.S. tour will coincide with the release, shortly followed by tours of Japan and Europe. More details as they come through.
Other Jesu releases are also on the horizon: Aurora Borealis will be releasing a limited edition 12" vinyl-only EP featuring 2 new experimental Jesu compositions entitled "Sun Down" b/w "Sun Rise," each song is approx. 18 minutes in length. Both songs feature Justin and Diarmuid only. This is mixed, mastered and with the label. Release date TBA.
Currently being mixed is a limited edition split 12" vinyl EP with Eluvium, this release is a joint venture between Hydra Head and Temporary Residence, with 2000 copies being issued by each label. This features 3 new Jesu compositions, recorded by Justin only. Release date TBA.
Justin has recently had remixes released of Knut, 5ive and Agoraphobic Nosebleed. He is currently finishing a dub remix for a Ted Parsons involved project, N.I.C, for their upcoming dub album. Details are also currently being solidified for Justin remixing Explosions In The Sky. More news soon.
There are now new official MySpace pages for both Jesu and Final. Go here for the official Jesu MySpace page and here for the official Final MySpace page.
In other news, there is a new Justin instigated band project - GREY MACHINE, the first album is currently in fruition. Many of Justin's old cohorts are involved in what will be a floating line up; Dave Cochrane, a co-conspirator of Justin's (together in Head Of David and Sweet Tooth), is soon to be recording his bass parts. Expect something vicious, loose, heavy and psychedelic. More news very soon.
Justin has been invited to join Sunn0))) as a member of the group on their upcoming October 2006 U.K. and Ireland tour. Yet again details TBA very soon.
Justin recently mixed and produced the Pelican London live show at the Scala from December 2005 from what is to be both a DVD and a limited double vinyl set. Release date is looking like January 2007. Justin will now also be mixing and producing an ISIS one-off performance of Oceanic in its entirety, performed in London as part of the ATP festival in July 2006. This is to be a DVD release with other formats TBA. Justin [with Diarmuid] as Final opened for ISIS at this event; he also guested on guitar with ISIS on the song "Weight."
