hey folks,
here's an update on everyone's favorite japanese drone riffers bORIS. first off we're proud to announce the release of boris with merzbow "sunbaked snow cave" full length cd. as the title would suggest this is a collaboration between these two japanese acts and proves to be a fruitful combination of their distinct sonic palettes/sensibilities, though much more serene overall than many might expect. also, there are still some dates left on the boris US tour, so if they're rollin through your town or anywhere within a 10 hour drive of it, make sure you go out and see em - you may not get the chance again, at least anytime soon. along with boris you'll also get to see one or more of the following: thrones, nachtmystium, sunn, and earth - if that's not incentive to go out and see a show i don't know what is...

Greetings everyone....
as you may or may not know Pelican is SUPPOSED to be on tour with opeth right now, but apparently opeth are having some visa problems that are preventing them from getting in the country. so, with numerous cancelleations pelican has picked up the slack and booked some last minute shows in place of those that were cancelled. to make a long story short, you can STILL see pelican, though of course not with opeth. however they are still playing with some excellent bands such as Everlovely Lightningheart, Tarentel, Graves at Sea, etc.....shows info is as follows:
10/09 Pelican plays two shows this day!

SECOND SHOW, 10 pm @ 2942 N. 16th Street (north of Thomas), phoenix AZ

Hi Gang!
we've come up with some sinister new vizuels for cave in tour merch and we thought we'd share some of it with you. this art MIGHT also be applied to some super duper cave in t shirt package for the ever expanding wonderworld known as "hydraheadshop". word has it that the package MIGHT also include a new cave in cassingle... that's right, cassingle - two songs, two sides, too fuckin tough! so keep your eyes peeled and your ear to the ground cuz we KNOW you don't want to miss out on this shit. for those of you that don't know, cave in is hittin the road in a month or so, and doomriders (mighty riffery from members of converge, old man gloom, etc) will be comin along to further pound your lumpy asses into the ground. look out motherfuckers..... and evil moon is rising.....
Hi everyone. we realize that we're about 9 months late with this, but as you know, we're ALWAYS busy with VERY important matters, so we cannot be held responsible for our tardiness. we were also quite disappointed by the outcome of the election, and that probably put a dent in our enthusiasm regarding this whole thing (the voter registration drive contest that we held, for those of you who might not know what we're referring to here).... ANYWAY we did get lots of entries, and everyone that sent in an entry will be getting something or other over the next month or so. we also have ourselves some clear winners - at least for the grand prize and 2nd prize spots. the GRAND prize goes to PATRIK MACKLIN - this guy went above and beyond by registering himself and 48 other people! hats off to him. in second place we have CHAD BAKER from acerbic noise industries - he also went above and beyond the call by registering dozens of people, but just missed the top slot. cheers to chad as well....
these guys are walking away with all kinds of colored vinyl, test pressings, CDs, t shirts, signed art, posters, pins, hoodies, etc. etc.... so next time we do a contest like this remember that we might be late, but the pay off will be HUGE. thank you good citizens - this was an important effort - even if the loser won.....

We're not sure he'll catch the "Quick Change" movie reference of the heading, but if he does we're pretty certain he'd be happy to fucking deck us if he doesn't find it amusing. Oxbow is pretty much the best fucking band ever, and, as frontman Eugene gives you a hint of in the new LA Weekly, they're on a whole other level. As you all may or may not know Oxbow is new to the Hydra Head roster, and their debut release for us "Love That's Last: a Wholly Hypnographic and Disturbing Work Regarding Oxbow" DVD/CD comes out January 24th.
